Quiet Beaty

JAPANESE ART TEA CEREMONY WITH SOUND

Saturday, 22 August · 10am - 5pm
Oscailt Centre · Dublin 4

Quiet Beauty is not a collection of separate activities. It is one carefully unfolding experience, designed to bring you gradually into the present moment.

You arrive carrying the pace and noise of the outside world. The day begins with gentle sound and Reiki, allowing the body to settle and the mind to become quieter. This is the preparation for what follows.

After a period of reflection, you will explore the present moment through haiku and image-making. You will be invited to notice what you are feeling and give it simple form, without pressure to create something perfect.

At the centre of the day is the Japanese tea ceremony.

Every movement is deliberate. Each object is handled with care. As the ceremony unfolds, it can feel like watching a painting being created in front of you.

Quiet Beauty is an invitation to experience ritual, simplicity and the beauty of imperfection.

Not by learning about presence, but by entering it.

THE EXPERIENCE

ONE DAY

ONE RITUAL

ONE MOMENT THAT WILL NOT RETURN

The current schedule supports this gradual movement from arrival, through sound and reflection, into haiku and finally the tea ceremony.

THE PASSAGE

WHY THESE PRACTICES BELONG TOGETHER

Each part of Quiet Beauty prepares the way for the next.

Sound brings attention into the body.

Reiki supports calm and receptivity.

Haiku and painting offer a simple way to notice and express the present moment.

The tea ceremony gathers everything together through movement, silence and care.

Rather than moving quickly from one activity to another, the day is designed as one continuous experience

ABOUT THE CEREMONY

At the centre of Quiet Beauty is the Japanese tea ceremony.

You are invited to watch rather than perform.

As each movement unfolds, the mind naturally begins to slow. Attention moves towards the bowl, the hands preparing the tea and the quiet space between gestures.

The ceremony is both ritual and artistic expression. It reveals how something simple can become deeply meaningful when it is approached with care.

Like a painting created in real time, it exists fully for one moment and then is gone.

MEET THE FACILITATORS

  • AKIE & TAKA

Akie  and Taka will guide the Japanese tea ceremony at the centre of the day.

Through careful movement, traditional objects and quiet attention, they will introduce guests to the ceremony as both a living art form and a practice of presence.

They will also offer Jyorei, a Japanese spiritual practice centred on receiving light through the hands.

  • AGA

Aga will open the day with gentle sound and guided breathing, drawing on her work as a Certified Sound Therapy Practitioner and Oxygen Advantage Instructor.

This part of the experience helps guests settle into the body, quieten the mind and prepare to receive the tea ceremony with greater presence. Through Inner Pulse, she creates sound experiences centred on deep listening and a more conscious relationship with breath and sound.

  • JUSTYNA

Justyna will offer Reiki during the sound experience, supporting relaxation and helping guests settle into the day.

She will  introduce participants to two beautiful Japanese art forms. A haiku is a short poem that invites us to slow down, become present, and capture a moment, feeling, or observation in a few simple words. A haiga combines a haiku with a simple drawing or painting, allowing us to express the same experience through both words and images.
